Report Templates controls the structure and wording used whenever your organization builds a report.
Your starting point
Every organization starts with a variant named Default, populated with the Reserve Sense Standard Template. It provides a complete report structure that works across every Canadian province and territory. You can use it unchanged or customize it to match how you want your reports to read. If you already have a report template outside Reserve Sense, contact us. We can merge it into your Reserve Sense setup.Decide where to make a change
Before editing, decide whether the change belongs in your organization’s template or in one report:
Use Report Templates to change the organization-level content. Use the report editor for one-time, property-specific changes on pages with Uniqueness set to Report. A report-specific customization continues to override the organization version of that page.
How a template is organized
Each variant contains a complete template. Pages contain the written and generated content. Chapters and appendices group related pages and control how those groups appear in the table of contents. The left panel lists the template items in the order they will appear in the report.Work safely with template variants
A template variant is an alternative report configuration. Your organization can have several variants, but only one can be Active. Reserve Sense uses the active variant whenever any report is built, including an existing report.Your organization needs at least one property and one report before the template editor can load a report for its preview.
Create and test a variant
- Open Report Templates from the sidebar
- Choose Add New Template Variant
- Give the variant a name
- Choose one of the following:
- Duplicate an existing variant: copies its layout and content. This is the best option for testing changes
- Start from scratch: creates an empty variant with no template items
- Leave the current variant active while you make changes. Use the template editor’s page preview to review the new variant one page at a time
- When you are ready to test the complete report, coordinate with anyone else building reports, select Active on the new variant, and build a test report
- Check page visibility, conditional wording, table-of-contents entries, and sectioned output. Leave the new variant active if it is ready to use; otherwise, reactivate the previous variant before continuing your changes
